Looking for a new sedan to haul the kids around? Something you may want to take into consideration is backseat legroom. Kids grow fast, to the point where it’s a time-honored cliche that parents joke about how soon their little ones outgrow just about everything. The new Ford Focus offers parents a way around this problem, however, with more family-friendly backseat space than ever before.
The next-generation iteration of the Ford Focus ushers in a fresh take on the time-honored sedan (and its hatchback variant). Designers have expanded the inside of the Focus so that backseat passengers get an additional 2.4 inches of shoulder room, as well as 1.97 additional inches of knee space.
The chief program engineer of the Ford Focus, Glen Goold, stated that the team wanted “[the all-new Focus] to feel more open and roomy for passengers big and small. The side windows now stretch more rearwards so that passengers have an unobstructed view out.”
The new Ford Focus won’t be coming stateside due to Ford’s recent restructure of its lineup. However, this commitment to providing a more family-friendly driving experience and expanding the interior backseat is promising when it comes to the future of Ford vehicles.
