Today’s growing Ford lineup is so nice, it’s pulled off a big feat twice. For the second year in a row, Ford took the truck and utility vehicle categories in the North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. In this year’s NACTOY awards, the all-new Ford Maverick took home the truck trophy while the 2022 Bronco won for utility vehicles.
A panel of 50 independent jurors crunched the numbers and the facts and found that the 2022 Ford Bronco and Maverick were more worthy of NACTOY acclaim than their respective competition. This mirrors last year’s result, which saw the all-new F-150 win North American Truck of the Year and all-electric Mustang Mach-E win Utility Vehicle of the Year.
So what earned Ford the dub on both fronts? One judge said that the Ford Maverick “revived the compact truck segment with one of the most compelling packages you can buy in 2022.” Its low price, great fuel economy, city-friendly versatility, and all-around value proposition were all named highlights.
As for the incredible Ford Bronco, the unanimous verdict is that the revived off-roader is a “credible” alternative to the well-worn SUV from the brand with the four-letter name. One juror called the Bronco “a home run” while another said it “delivers on the promise of its legendary name.”
